Where can i find the history of and meaning of my last name?

Where can i find the history of and meaning of my last name. My last Name is Dittfurth i dont know much about the name or anything i was told its german so any info or links would be great.

That should give you a good Idea of the origins of your family many germanic names can be found throughout Germany,Switzerland,Austria. For you to say that my name is from such and such b/c a book or website says so would be like winking at a girl in the dark it doesn't do ya any good. I did a search and couldn't find any meaning for the name but www. Roots.web.com had family listings for Dittfurth mostly in Texas and some in Germany.Good luck in your search.
