What is the meaning behind the last name MacMullin (Scottish)?

I'm doing a project that involves heritage and name meaning. Of course, I'm Scottish.

What is the meaning behind the last name MacMullin (Scottish)?
Is is possibly a variation on McMillen

Scottish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Maol谩in, a patronymic from the byname Maol谩n, a diminutive of maol 鈥榖ald鈥? 鈥榯onsured鈥? In Scotland the usual spelling is Macmillan. Compare Mullen.
Reply:"mac" means "son of" so without considering its change in spelling, it means "son of Mullin." It is probably a derivative of the original Gaelic spelling, but its etymology originates from the founder of the clan, most likely.
Reply:Most likely it means "son of the miller." See these links: http://wiki.name.com/en/Mullins
