My husband and I are expecting our second son in a few days. We are still undecided on a name.
Ryan (little king) Scott

Cameron (crooked nose) Scott
We like both but are having a hard time deciding between the two. Does the meaning of the name really matter or should it depend on what we like best?

but Cameron Scott sounds fine too. The meaning of the name doesn't matter and i think crooked nose sounds cute. So go with whatever name you like as if the meanings weren't there.

And it doesn't even have to match up to the actual meaning of the name my friend Danielle (God is my Judge) while she is a Christian and God is her judge the story of Daniel in the lion's den matches her personality better as I like to say "The lions don't mess with her". So also think about the people you know who are named Ryan Scott or Cameron Scott; which person do you want your kid to act more like?
Also think do you want "little king scotsman" or "crooked nose scotsman"? (Scott means either scotsman or tattoo)
My vote is for Ryan Scott because I think Cameron is more of a girl's name. But since you both seem to like the name Scott why don't you make that name his first name and then pick another name to be the middle name or you could just do what my cousins did, they picked out a couple of names and then waited until their daughter was born and then decided what name she looked the most like. So you could wait and see if he looks more like a Ryan or Cameron before deciding.

I like both your names, though actually I like them for girls. So I think both names are pretty unisex.

What is the meaning of my last name?
Shamberger? Apparently my paternal family goes as far back as the late 1700s in the U.S., but they Americanized the name. I would like to know what it means and who I am related to in Germany.

Adding on to the above, -er also indicates the area the family comes from. Ich bin Berliner means I am from Berlin. It could mean the family came from Schaumberg.
Berg also means mountain. It is possible the berg is a corruption of -burg, which means walled city, such as Bittburg or Ludwigsburg.

It sounds to me as if the name should be "Schaumberger". That is a common German name.
"Schaum" means "foam" or "bubbles". The "berger" is a Germanic construction "er" means "doer" -- the verb would be "bergen", i.e. to rescue, save, protect, etc. Therefore, the closest one can come today would be "Foamsaver". Sorry, that is the best I can do.

"Army" implies strength and power, which can be a good thing for a girl in this day and age.
"Counselor" implies wisdom and intelligence. What more could you ask for your daughter?
Naming a child is a big responsibility and not something to be taken lightly. We've all known kids in school who were teased for their name or even the meaning of their initials.
But when it comes down to it, you have to name your child something that you like. After all, it's pretty much guaranteed you will be whispering, singing, crying and yelling that name quite a bit over the next 18 years. My name's Jody and my Japanese name's translation is Sanshu, which means "Praise God" in Kanji. I was wondering if through my Japanese name I could have a Korean name, or anything related to that phrase as a Korean name. Please explain the meaning too. A friend has given me the name "jung hee" which kind of means justice, but I'm looking for something that would really match my name. Thanks!

The Korean language used to use a lot of hanja, but now it probably numbers only about a thousand, and the Korean gov't is still actively phasing it out of the language.
In any case, one certain Korean character can correspond to many different Chinese radicals, thus allowing variety of meaning and personalization for people with the same name. The Korean gov't maintains a list of Chinese characters that are allowable for use in names. Usually one's grandfather (or head of household) will choose the hanja, or the family will pay someone who specializes in this to choose it. Thus I do not have this list, and my knowledge of hanja is like... 10 characters.
Anyways, most likely you CAN find hanja through the kanji of your onamae. It would help if you showed us the kanji, actually, because there's probably more than one hanja combination for "Praise God".

Post is actually a German name. My family must've come from there a long time ago.
It can mean ''mail'', but was also used for people who lived near a certain landmark or boundary. It's also used in Dutch and Danish.

He took his tribal bands up the Tigres River and conscripted people there and built great cities. During that time, the Hebrew race lived in cities like Sephar and Ninevah. This is the Northern part of Iraq and part of what is called, today, the Sunni Triangle.
3. My Hebrew last name of Jo is the shortened or abbreviated form of God's name, Jehovah. We got that last name about four thousand years ago sometime just after the time of Eber and long before Abram.
4. Originally our last name of Joba meant "God to hold" in its original form. Through the ages names and word meanings change. So much of our human past has been lost with time. If you come from a major world civilization, you might, though, find enough records to give you clues as to an ancient past and uncover many things, good things, which will make life and our greater world a much better and more wonderful place in which to live.
5. As my family migrated from Shinar into China, 1900 BC to 1700 BC, our name changed to Jo. In China, it is pronounced as Djou. In the Wades-Giles romanization system, it was romanized as Chou. Zhou in Mandarin, and Chow upon our arrival to America.
6. In China, our family surname means "complete" or circle. Complete is closer to the original Chinese meaning.
7. Though we are true paternal Hebrews, we no longer look Hebrew due to the thousands of years of intermarriage with the Chinese people.
