What is the meaning of the name Tayce?

I have looked for it on the net, some sites say "silence" and that it has a french origin. But I am french, and the word for silence is "silence", how surprising is that.


So does anybody know for sure what its meaning is? Its a character's name and the meaning's important. If you know it'd help a lot, thanks.

Reply:I found that it is Latin for silence. But since French is one of the romance languages, maybe that's why it's listed as french.

Reply:It's not really an actual name, so it doesn't have a true "meaning." It basically means "my parents gave me a made-up name."





EDIT: Just because it may derived from a word that was dervied from another word that was derived from another word that is French or Latin for "silence" does not mean that that is the actual meaning of the name. Many baby name sites give inaccurate information about the true origin of baby names. The truth is that many of them don't really have an origin or a meaning.
