Name Meaning?

Okay...I've been trying to figure this out for a while. Does anyone off the top of their head know that the name "Jolene" means? That's my name and I've never known the actual meaning of it...other then dolly parton thinks she's a hoe.

From my research, I've found that Jolene comes from the feminine form of Joseph. Some say the "lene" portion could come from a shortened form of Magdalene or Helene.





Joseph = "he will add" and "the Lord will increase" (eleventh and favored son of biblical Jacob)


Helene = torch (greek)


Magdalene = from biblical Mary Magdalene
